We teach the following:
The purpose of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is to build up the church. Every Christian is given at least one spiritual gift and the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the way He distributes these gifts among believers (1 Cor 12:4-11).
The sign gifts of healing and miracles were given to authenticate the apostles as revealers of divine truth (2 Cor 12:12).
God may well do miracles today, including miracles of healing. However, the gifts of healing and miracles are not given to particular individuals as they were given to the apostles and a few of their associates in the days of the early church.
The sign gift of speaking in tongues was the ability to miraculously speak in real human languages and was a sign for unbelievers (1 Cor 14:21-22). More specifically, it was a sign to unbelieving Jews that, since they had rejected their Messiah, God was now turning His attention onto the Gentiles.
Since the canon of Scripture is now complete and Jesus is the full revelation of God (Heb 1:1-2), God is no longer giving new revelation today.
